The International Council of Nurses (ICN) issued a call for abstracts for the hallmark program in partnership with the Emirates Nursing Association in 2020. The deadline came and went, and directors of the Global Education Development Institute responded by submitting multiple symposia for consideration. What was once scheduled as an on-site meeting has become virtual, and the call for submissions is once again open with a start date of January 15th, 2021. The program is set for November 2-4, 2021. Using the theme “Nursing Around the World”, the nursing baton will be passed across the different regions of the world in a series of live and interactive events which will give members the opportunity to showcase their expertise and innovations.
According to the ICN, “Our virtual platform will offer a unique, state-of-the-art experience for all participants! Using the theme ‘Nursing Around the World’, we will pass the nursing baton across the different regions of the world in a series of live and interactive events which will give our members the opportunity to showcase their expertise and innovations. We look forward to working together with partners who will benefit from this excellent opportunity to showcase their services and interact with our delegates. The ICN Congress will bring together 2020, the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, and 2021, the International Year of Health and Care Workers to celebrate the work of nurses internationally, highlight the challenging conditions they often face, and advocate for increased investments in the nursing and midwifery workforce.”
GEDI team members have presented at ICN Congresses in Australia, South Africa, Yokohama, Taipei, Copenhagen, Durban, London, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. This has been an unusual year for nurses and nursing, and The Year of the Nurse and Midwife took on enhanced meaning. Share your expertise and your experiences with your global nurse colleagues.
